How to use the TrustVault Web address book

❗ Please note that the types of entries in the address book have been modified: marking an address as CONTRACT is no longer an available option. For further clarification, please refer to the Address Book Types section below or reach out to support if you have any questions.

Address Book

TrustVault Web provides users with the capability to add entries to their Address Book. Each entry can include several specific fields that help categorize and identify the addresses effectively. The fields available for entry are outlined in the table below:

Field Name Usage Notes
Chain Type Indicates the specific blockchain on which the address is valid. You can select the appropriate chain from a dropdown menu. All Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) addresses fall under the ETHEREUM category, except for those on the BINANCE_SMART_CHAIN, which must be listed separately.
Name The designation you wish to assign to the address book entry. There is a limit of 50 characters for this field.
Address The actual address specific to the blockchain. Ensure that the address is in the correct checksummed format, if applicable.
Label An optional extended label for additional information. This field allows for up to 100 characters and will only be visible in the address book view.
Type Defines the nature of the address being added and its intended use cases.

This field can include the following options:

Refer to the sections below for more detailed information.

Counterparty Name The registered company name or the full name of the individual who owns the address. This information must only be provided if the address has been designated as a "Travel Rule" address.
Cryptoasset Business The cryptoasset business that manages the counterparty. For instance, if the transactions are to or from a Coinbase wallet, you should select Coinbase. This detail is required only if the address has been marked as a "Travel Rule" address.

Address Book Types

It is important to note that if you have co-signing rules enabled, the type of address can influence whether those rules are successfully applied.

When you add an entry to the Address Book, you have the ability to specify its use case(s), which will determine how the address can be utilized in transactions. The following types can be assigned to an Address Book entry:

Type Description
Recipient This type allows funds to be transferred directly to the address via native transfers or ERC-20 token transfers. Additionally, it will appear in the dropdown menu of Address Book options when creating a transaction through TrustVault Web. If an entry does not have this type, it will still be included in address book checks, such as allow lists, but funds cannot be sent directly to it or through ERC-20 transfers. For example, a user might choose not to classify an ERC-20 contract address as a recipient.
Travel Rule When executing a transaction that necessitates compliance with the Travel Rule, the system can automatically populate the required Travel Rule information during the process of sending or receiving transactions. If this type is selected, it is mandatory to provide the Counterparty information along with the other Address Book details.

TrustVault Web

Once an entry has been added to the address book, it becomes accessible in TrustVault Web whenever you are sending a transaction. To view the entries, simply select the Address Book tab, which will display all items corresponding to the relevant blockchain.

It is essential to note that only entries classified as "Recipient" will be visible in the address book.

Additionally, you have the option to request that Bitpanda Custody Support enable address book-only transactions. This would restrict users from entering arbitrary addresses in the "to" field and would limit them to using only addresses stored in the address book.

It is important to keep in mind that this feature is exclusively available through the user interface. Users of the API will still have the ability to set the "to" address freely. If you wish to enforce a rule regarding the use of the address book, we recommend implementing our co-signing rules. For more details, please do not hesitate to reach out to Bitpanda Custody Support.

Additional features available with the Address Book

For users interested in enhancing their Address Book functionality, several additional features can be accessed by contacting the Bitpanda Custody Support team. These features include:

  2. The option to delete an existing address book entry.
  3. The ability to update the details of an address book entry.
  4. Incorporating the address book into co-signing rules, allowing for enhanced oversight and control over address book entries.
