TrustVault (iOS) is becoming BE Custody (iOS) — Version 3.0: What's Changing and Why

TrustVault for iOS has become BE Custody.

Version 3.0 introduces a new native iOS experience designed specifically for reviewing and approving custody requests. The update also introduces security, authentication and usability improvements while preserving your existing signing credentials and wallet permissions.

Do I need to do anything before updating?

For most users, no.

BE Custody is delivered as an update to the existing TrustVault application. You do not need to:

  • Install a separate application
  • Re-register your device
  • Create a new signing key
  • Update your existing wallet policies

Your existing Device Public Key is preserved when you update, so your current signing permissions continue to work with BE Custody.

Important: BE Custody 3.0 requires iOS 18.0 or later. You should ensure your device is running a supported version of iOS before updating.

What has changed?

A new name

The TrustVault iOS application is now called BE Custody, aligning the application with the Bitpanda Enterprise product family.

After updating the existing application, you will see the new BE Custody name and branding.

A simpler signing experience

BE Custody has been rebuilt as a native iOS application and streamlined around its primary purpose: reviewing and signing custody requests.

The application now focuses on two main areas:

  • Inbox – review and action pending custody requests
  • Settings – manage application settings and access support information

The previous subwallet view is no longer part of the application. Wallet management remains separate from the mobile signing experience.

How is signing protected?

Signing continues to take place directly on your device.

Signing keys are protected using the iOS Secure Enclave, and signing operations require authentication using Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode.

BE Custody also requests authentication when you return to the application before displaying its contents.

What can I approve using BE Custody?

Depending on your organisation's configuration and permissions, BE Custody can be used to review and authorise supported custody requests including:

  • Outgoing transactions
  • Address book changes
  • Wallet creation
  • Wallet policy changes
  • Personal signing requests
  • Structured on-chain data signing
  • Seed export requests

The requests available to you depend on your assigned permissions and your organisation's custody configuration.

Will my existing wallet policies still work?

Yes.

Your Device Public Key remains unchanged when upgrading from TrustVault to BE Custody 3.0. Because the same registered key continues to identify your device, existing wallet policies do not need to be changed solely because of the application update.

Has authentication changed?

BE Custody introduces support for enterprise single sign-on while continuing to support the existing authentication method for current users.

The authentication experience available to you will depend on your organisation's configuration.

Will I still receive notifications for requests?

Yes. BE Custody supports push notifications for pending approval requests, helping authorised signers identify requests that require their attention.

Why was the application rebuilt?

BE Custody 3.0 introduces a native iOS architecture and a more focused mobile signing experience.

The new application also communicates with the custody platform through a dedicated authenticated API layer rather than communicating directly with underlying blockchain services. Authorisation is enforced by the custody platform for requests made through the application.

What stays the same?

Although the application has a new name and interface, several important aspects remain unchanged:

  • It remains the mobile application used to review and sign custody requests
  • Signing remains on-device
  • Your existing Device Public Key is preserved
  • Existing wallet policies continue to recognise your device
  • The application is delivered through the existing App Store application rather than as a separate installation
