What should I check before submitting a transaction?

Before submitting a transaction in BE Custody, users should confirm that the transaction instruction is complete, expected, and consistent with the organisation’s internal process.

BE Custody provides controls for transaction creation and approval, but users remain responsible for checking the transaction details before submission or approval. Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible once confirmed.

Pre-submission checklist

Before submitting a transaction, check:

  • The transaction is expected and authorised under your organisation’s internal process
  • The correct wallet or sub-wallet has been selected
  • The asset is correct
  • The network is correct
  • The destination address is correct
  • The destination address is compatible with the selected asset and network
  • The amount is correct
  • Any required reference, instruction, or internal record is in place
  • Any address book entry being used is current and correct
  • The transaction does not appear unusual, unexpected, or inconsistent with previous activity

Do not submit a transaction if any detail is unclear or unexpected.

Asset and network checks

Some assets or tokens may exist on more than one blockchain network. Support for one version of an asset does not automatically mean that all network versions are supported.

Before submitting a transaction, confirm that:

  • The asset is supported in BE Custody
  • The selected network is supported for that asset
  • The destination address is suitable for the selected network
  • The transfer matches the intended instruction

For token transfers, users should also check that the token contract is the expected one where applicable.

Address checks

Destination address errors are one of the most important operational risks in digital asset transfers.

Before submitting a transaction, check:

  • The full destination address
  • The intended recipient
  • The selected network
  • Any address book label or saved entry
  • Any internal approval or verification record required by your organisation

Do not rely on an address label alone. The underlying address and network should still be reviewed.

Amount and fee checks

Before submitting, check that the amount is correct and that any estimated network fee is understood.

Network fees may vary depending on the asset, network conditions, transaction type, and blockchain-specific fee mechanics. Fees charged by the network are generally not reversible by Bitpanda Enterprise Custody.

Internal process checks

Your organisation may require additional internal checks before a transaction is submitted.

These may include:

  • Trade or treasury approval
  • Client instruction validation
  • Reconciliation checks
  • Compliance checks
  • Address approval
  • Dual control or maker-checker review
  • Supporting records or ticket references

Users should follow their organisation’s internal process before submitting any transaction.

What should I do if something looks wrong?

If any transaction detail looks incorrect, unexpected, or unfamiliar, do not submit the transaction.

Check internally first. If further help is needed, contact Bitpanda Enterprise Custody Support with the relevant transaction details.

Do not include passwords, PINs, private keys, seed phrases, API keys, API secrets, or other sensitive authentication information in a support request.
