What should I check before using a withdrawal address?

Before using a withdrawal address, always check that the address, asset, network, and recipient details are correct.

Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible once confirmed. If assets are sent to the wrong address, the wrong network, or an unsupported destination, they may not be recoverable.

What is a withdrawal address?

A withdrawal address is the destination blockchain address used when sending assets out of BE Custody.

The address must be compatible with the asset and network being used. For example, an address that is valid for one blockchain network may not be valid or supported for another.

What should I check before submitting a withdrawal?

Before submitting a withdrawal, check:

  • The asset is correct
  • The network is correct
  • The destination address is correct
  • The address belongs to the intended recipient
  • The destination can receive the selected asset and network
  • The amount is correct
  • Any address book entry being used is still valid
  • The transaction matches your organisation’s internal process
  • Any required internal approvals or records are in place

Do not submit a transaction if any detail looks incorrect, unexpected, or unfamiliar.

Why is the network important?

Some assets can exist on more than one network.

Support for an asset on one network does not necessarily mean that the same asset is supported on another network. Sending assets using the wrong network may result in loss of access to those assets.

Always check both the asset and the network before submitting or approving a withdrawal.

Should I use an address book entry?

If your organisation uses address book entries, they can help reduce the risk of manually entering an incorrect destination address.

However, you should still review the address book entry before using it. Check that the label, address, asset, network, and intended recipient are correct.

Do not rely on the label alone.

What should approvers check?

If you are approving a withdrawal, check:

  • The transaction is expected
  • The asset and amount are correct
  • The destination address is correct
  • The selected network is correct
  • The destination has been verified according to your organisation’s process
  • The request does not appear unusual or unexpected

Do not approve a transaction if you are unsure whether the details are correct.

What should I do if I am unsure?

If you are unsure whether a withdrawal address is correct, do not submit or approve the transaction.

Follow your organisation’s internal escalation process or contact Bitpanda Enterprise Custody Support for guidance.

Do not include passwords, PINs, private keys, seed phrases, API keys, API secrets, or other sensitive authentication information in a support request.
